Ok, so we all know that I love to make a statement, but I acknowledge that I am a lot more adventurous than most. But I think we should all try and be adventurous and I think we so easily get pigeon-holed with these fashion rules and I just think that is silly.
Hello all! So my biggest struggle in the winter is staying warm while also staying cute. My immediate reaction is to throw on the biggest sweater in my closet, some boots, and be done. But that gets boring really quickly and is definitely not work appropriate.
Hello all! So we had another fabulous red carpet this weekend at the Grammy’s. As always, here were my favorite looks and I’d love to hear what you thought!
So last week during our snow days, I had a craving for something sweet but my local bakery was closed (because of the snow) and I didn’t have any eggs. So I needed something to satisfy my craving with limited ingredients. I decided to try and make some edible cookie dough. It was so easy to make and absolutely delicious! The recipe is below as well as links to some of my baking tools I had to use.
Layering with different color combinations and textures is one of my favorite things, but I also love layering with textures. This outfit was basically my layered textured dream. First, my shoes are suede…one word about these shoes. I got them for Christmas and they are weather proof! I am so obsessed with them because I can wear them for any occasion and they are so comfortable.
This is one of my favorite times of the year because there are so many fashion related events going on. It is currently fashion week in Paris and I have loved seeing the runways! Hopefully one day I’ll be able to go to my own fashion week. In addition to fashion week, there are also loads of award shows which means lots of red carpets. Most recently, were the SAG awards and I absolutely adored some of the looks! Here are my favorites…what looks did you like the most?
One of the hardest things about having a fashion blog is dealing with winter. First of all your time to take photos is seriously affected by light. During the summer, I normally take pictures after work and it is not a problem at all. In the winter though, I have to set out specific time early in the morning or on the weekend so there is enough light.
Hello all! A little behind at the moment because I took the weekend off. It was crazy busy and when I was home from work, I needed a bit of a relax, reset. Anyways, we are back! If you missed it last week, there was another fabulous red carpet at the Critics’ Choice Awards. I don’t think I’ve ever said this, but it was nice to see a little color after the all black red carpet last weekend. Here are my favorite looks…let me know what you think about these and if you had any other favorite looks!
Alison Brie always looks fabulous in my opinion, but I like that she went simple and natural. It really let her innate beauty shine through and she looked incredible.
And Angelina Jolie is back! Looking like the flawless, never aging ice queen that she is. I love the intense feather detail paired with the bright red lips.
White seemed to be the theme for this award show. I love the flowing Grecian nature of this. It is so simple but so flattering and well.
We all know how much I love some tulle and this is how you rock tulle on a red carpet. Simple and ballerina-esque without over doing your make-up, hair or jewelry. A plus for me! Until next time…
Being the art nerd that I am, I like to go to museums and art events as often as possible. It doesn’t happen as much as I’d like because of my schedule, but I was able to finally squeeze some art in this week! An amazing thing that some museums are doing is staying open until 9pm on a weekday so that people can view the art after work. This works perfectly for me because I always work weekends and my only day off is Monday, when most museums are closed. Anyways, this week I went over to the Nasher Museum at Duke University to check out their exhibition on Carlo Dolci.
As much as I love layering, there are some pitfalls that I like to avoid. The first one is that I don’t want to look like the Michelin man and not be able to move my arms. The other one is that I still want to feel cute and feminine, while also staying warm. With a wool mini-skirt and a thick but girly sweater are the perfect way to avoid these issues.
