Like most of you, I know work exclusively from home. A big part of this transition is scheduling out my days and finding things to do. The other big part was having a designated work space in my studio apartment. The finding things to fill the day is definitely still a work in progress–I definitely watch too much TV and am on my phone wayyyy too much. But, after a little decor shift, my bistro table that I wasn’t really using all that much has become the perfect makeshift desk/ zoom meeting location.

Another thing that has really helped me to get into work mode during quarantine is getting up and getting ready. Now, a big part of this is my general love of clothes and fashion and putting together an outfit in the morning. But there is also something very challenging about writing serious, important work emails while sitting in your star wars sweatpants…

On the top, I try and look professional but also my own level of quirky. On the bottom, it is a free for all but I’m probably wearing shorts or jeans and some comfy slides or flats. No one sees my bottom half these days so I am still prepared for an unscheduled zoom meeting, but also comfy for the whole day.

I have never been good at the whole work/life balance especially because a lot of my work is freelance. With quarantine, I realized how bad this problem was especially because I did not have a designated work and a designated relaxing space. But defining that has definitely made things easier!

But, just because I like getting ready does not mean that I want to be wearing a tight pencil skirt or something otherwise restricting and uncomfortable when all I do is sit at my table all day. I’m calling this kind of look the quarantine mullet, which I know sounds crazy but stick with me a second.
