Where I take my parents to eat in DC

Everywhere I visit/ live, I divide restaurants into two categories…yummy and yummy and classy enough for my parents. I’m not saying they have to be super nice or anything like that, but probably not the hole in the wall diner I got to past 10 pm. No, I’m not just rambling here, there is actually a point to this! My parents came up to visit with some friends last weekend and we tried some awesome restaurants that I wanted to share with you. So, here are some of my favorite DC places that are also parent/ anyone you are trying to impress approved!

Italian: After living in Italy, Italian food is definitely one of my favorites.

Ghibellina: Do not look at the menu, I am telling you what to order…get the pizza. Do not order anything else, the pizza is incredible, you can thank me later.

Filomena: This was one of the first restaurants my Dad ever took me to in DC. It is a little pricey, but worth it. They bring you enough food to feed an army and it is absolutely incredible. The restaurant itself is also extra as all get out and I love it.

Al Volo Osteria: This is one of the first new restaurants I tried in DC and it has become one of my favorites. It is cozy and yummy and great for almost any occasion.

French: Escargot is my favorite food. Hands down.

Le Diplomate: You might recognize the name, and trust me, it is worth the hype. They have escargot so it is immediately a yes for me, but also the rest of the food was delicious! Plus I love the vibe. Vibe is very important for me…I have to like existing in the place.

Brussel Sprouts: They are my favorite vegetable, I am obsessed.

The Line- Brothers and Sisters: Now this is a place with vibe. The Line is a church that has been converted into a hotel with multiple restaurants and bars. The restaurant in the lobby is called Brothers and Sisters and is “asian-inspired” according to their menu. Whatever you want to call it…order the Brussel sprouts and the cheesecake…trust me.

Doi Moi: Another restaurant on 14th St– anyone sensing a trend here? Delicious asian food. Obviously order the Brussel sprouts but everything else was amazing too. Plus it is vegan and celiac disease friendly!

Hen Quarter: Y’all know I love Southern food and this is some of the best I’ve had outside NC. The fried chicken and sweet potatoes were delicious as were the Brussels! It is in Old Town, but worth the trek.

That is all for now! Do you guys like these DC/ city related posts? I’d love to hear. Also, did I miss any of your favorites? I’m always looking for new places!
