Weekly Adulting- Apartment Hunting

Hello my fabulous readers! Now that I am getting into the swing of school, I am going to try and get into the swing of blogging again! We will see how it goes!

Anyways, I am going to keep this short and sweet because I can’t lie, apartment hunting might be the most stressful, awful experience ever. Especially when you are desperate to move.

My best advice is to be honest with yourself, set your priorities, and be patient. Here is what I mean…

When you are looking for an apartment, there is nothing worse than lying to yourself. Be honest with what you can afford, what you want, and what you NEED (yes, those are very important differences). For me, this meant setting a very clear budget.

You should always have priorities. Not only to help you narrow things down, but also to help you figure out what you actually need versus what is a luxury. For me, my priorities were a safe building and I wanted to live in a specific area. This helped me narrow things down very quickly. I also realized that I preferred a studio over a one bedroom and that a dishwasher was a luxury that I might have to give up.

My last piece of advice is be patient. I was devastated when an apartment that I wanted fell through in March. But then, I found my current apartment, which is so much better. Things will happen, but you will end up with a fabulous apartment I’m sure!

XO, T
