Weekly Adulting- Apartments

Hello everyone! You might not have noticed, but the blog was down over the weekend and I was definitely experiencing some technical difficulties. So, if you missed my last post, go check it out cause there was lots of announcements!

As I mentioned, on Monday’s, I’m going to be talking about first apartments, moving, and decorating studios. The blog wasn’t up in time for me to post yesterday, so here it is today!

To start things off, let’s talk about moving from your parent’s house to your first apartment that needs furniture, whether that is in college or after. I was lucky enough that my parents let me take my bedroom furniture from their house with me plus raid the storage unit. So I didn’t HAVE to buy anything new, but I also did not have enough stuff to fill up my one bedroom apartment in North Carolina.

I did end up buying a few cheap pieces, but I learned a lot from the experience. And that brings us to my first piece of advice…

Even if you are using hand-me-down furniture or things from your childhood room, don’t forget to make it your own. I would probably even recommend using hand-me-down or cheaper things to start just because it is your first apartment. You don’t know what you need and are going to like yet so starting with what you are comfortable with is a great way to start.

But, with that said, I think it is really important to make the space your own. Add some personal touches whether it is prints or some cute, cheaper accent pieces. I always call this process nesting because I think it is so important to personalize a space so that it really feels like you in that moment. More to come next week!

XO, T
