The Best of Fall- Mixing Patterns and Layering

The Best of Fall- Mixing Patterns and Layering

I love having the warm weather of summer, but I am always anxious for fall to arrive. It is always nice to not be sweating all the time, especially when I am commuting everywhere. But I am even more excited for the clothes.

  1. I don’t have to wear shorts (!!!) There is just something about shorts that I absolutely hate so jeans and tights, here I come!
  2. I can layer. I love sweaters and building up textures in an outfit throughout my layers. This is miserable in the summer, but in the fall, I can layer without freezing whenever I’m outside!
  3. The other added benefit of layering is being able to easily mix patterns. Whether it is with one of the layers and accessories or just general layers, when you have multiple layers it is so much easier to add fun colors and patterns.

If you have been following along for a while, you know that I adore pink. Normally, pastels colors like this pale pink are limited to spring and summer. But I love adding it to dark colors like burgundy and navy. It adds a lovely feminine twist to a look and is always slightly unexpected.

This hair ribbon or something like it makes color mixing very easy. First of all, what’s not to love about a hair ribbon?! Such a throwback and so fun and girly. This ribbon in particular has burgundy, pink, and green which is how the rest of my outfit came together. Obviously I have the burgundy from sweater, then I pulled in green with my necklace and everything else is pink!

Mixing colors can be intimidating, but it doesn’t have to be. So start with something easy like a fun accessory with a few colors and go from there!
