Pink Pastry Mornings

Happy Saturday! It has been a crazy few weeks, but it is finally starting to feel like fall and I am thrilled to be digging into my fall/winter wardrobe while exploring my new neighborhood.

Of course, the first thing I had to find was a close bakery with bread and pastries. Bread Furst is only a ten minute walk from my new apartment and I can’t wait to try all of their delicious goodies. So far, I’ve tried a chocolate croissant, plain croissant, raisin walnut bread, and an iced chai and it has all been delicious. I am doubly excited because raisin walnut bread is my absolute favorite (I know it is a little weird, but I love it) and my last local bakery only had nutella croissants, no plain chocolate ones. I am chocolate obsessed and there is absolutely nothing better than melty chocolate surrounded by flaky pastry.

Whether or not you have a sweet tooth like me, or even eat a lot of bread, finding a local bakery or something similar is a great way to explore a new area and make your new neighborhood feel like home. I already feel like a local in this neighborhood waiting in line for bread in the morning! It has also been a great excuse to get out of the house, which as someone who works from home and doesn’t have many excuses to leave these days, I’ll take any opportunity for outside activities that I can get.

It has been equally thrilling to dig into my fall/winter clothes. By this time of year, normally I am absolutely sick of all of my summer things and just want to throw them in a box and not have to look at them until April/May. Thankfully, the weather has complied and I’ve been able to pull out all of my turtlenecks and flannels this week (I can’t lie, I am currently wearing a turtleneck and wore one almost everyday this week…i.e. my happy place)!

I feel like every winter, I end up gravitating towards different vibes and styles. Last year, it was all about a chunky sweater with a hat. Layers were definitely given up in favor of bigger sweaters. This year though, and maybe it is only because it is early, but I feel like layers are going to be the hero piece of my looks. I have been gravitating towards lots of thinner layers as I play with fun textures and color combinations. Who knows what. I will end up doing this winter, but I am excited to see.

A few questions for all of you before we start this lovely weekend…should I bring back Turtleneck Thursday this year? I’m thinking yes, but I’d love to hear what y’all think. Also, what are some of your favorite things to do when you move to a new neighborhood? I am looking for lots of social distanced outdoor activities to try!

XO, Tay
