Statement Lips

If you have been following along for a while, you will have noticed that I’ve started wearing a lot more lipstick lately and I am loving statement lips. So I thought it was about time to talk about some of my favorite colors and brands and some fun ways to incorporate bold lipstick into your wardrobe.

Of course, I started with hot pink. Originally I thought it would be really hard to wear, but with other hot pink accessories, it worked perfectly. I like hot pink because it is girly and softer then a dark red or some other dark color. My favorite pink is Nars YU Satin Lip Pencil.

From hot pink, it was easy to transition into a pure red tone. I like this shade because it isn’t too dark and is a classic red shade, which was perfect for summer. This one is another Nars lip pencil in Cruella. Definitely my go-to for a classic red lip.

For fall, red was still perfect, but I wanted something a little darker. This red just has a bit more oomph and pigment to it. It stays on even better than the lip pencils and gave me that touch of darkness I wanted. This is one of my favorite shades of red because it seems to work well on everyone. It is one of Nars’ powermatte lip pigments which are the best! In color starwoman.

Ok so this has far been my boldest lipstick ever and it was even a little bold for me. But I love how it completely changed the tone of this white dress. It made a typically summery outfit feel perfect for fall, which was exactly what I wanted. This just how easy it is to use lipstick to your advantage when it comes to the vibe of your outfit. This one is called Paint it Black.

Through all of this experimenting, I did finally find my new go-to lipstick color. I love this color because it is dark and bold, but has pink tones in it so it isn’t as harsh as a red. I’ve just been randomly trying it with different outfits and it actually goes with everything! I have yet to find an outfit that it looks bad with. So my new color, Under my Thumb!

All of the lipsticks I linked are Nars and I must say their colors and staying power are better than any other lipstick I’ve tried. When I use the powermatte lip pigments, I put it on once before I eat breakfast and then I never have to reapply. The color doesn’t move or fade all day, it is awesome! If you liked hearing a little bit about my make-up, let me know so I can do more posts like this! Until next time…
