Monochrome with a Pop of Red
Hello! I know posts have been a little sporadic lately, but I think I am finally getting a little organized and we should be back to our regular schedule here now. Either way, if you ever want updates on new posts and other fun articles and tid-bits, sign up for our newsletter!
Anyways, let’s talk about fashion here for a minute. Whenever anyone comments on how they could never wear an outfit that I am wearing, my response is always that it’s not that hard and anyone could do it. But, I’ve been looking back on old blog posts lately and I am realizing that it is more a general progression than just an immediate jump to statement outfits.
So first, we have mixing patterns. Mixing patterns is one of my favorite things, but I also understand that it can be difficult. My first piece of advice is to pick two patterns where the colors match. It is easiest to do this with a monochrome outfit like this. Everything is either a shade of white, black, or grey so you know it will look good together.
Another easy trick when mixing patterns is separating your patterns. When they aren’t directly next to each other, it is not as obvious that you have a lot going on in your outfit. A little touch of pattern hear and there is ok too. Your whole outfit doesn’t have to be loud.
Let’s be honest, I have a tendency to go overboard, especially when it comes to my accessories. While I know that I want to have at least a few pieces to add to my outfit, when I am mixing patterns, I try and match all of my accessories. I like to choose pieces that add a little pop without being too loud. For this look I kept my color palette the same with golds, black, and creams. This helped break up the monotonous grey of my sweater without going over board.
Of course, for me, no outfit would be complete without a little color. But if you aren’t used to incorporating a lot of color into your wardrobe, this is the perfect kind of outfit to test it on. Have your outfit be 100% monochrome and then add one small piece of color. Then, you don’t have to worry about clashing or over-doing it. That’s all for now, but see you soon!
Is that a Kendra Scott necklace?
Surprisingly not! It is from a company called Chloe and Isabel. I’ve had it for years!
Great suggestions as always. Thanks so much for where you got that rockin bag. Love the color!
Thank you! And of course! If there is ever anything you can’t find, just let me know!
