A Weekend in DC

 A Weekend in DC

I know I haven’t lived here very long (so there are definitely more things I would add to this list), but Kate came to visit me this weekend and we had a fabulous time and I wanted to share some of our finds with you!

A Weekend in DC

On Friday for dinner, we went to Hen Quarter. Let me tell you this was all of my Southern girl food dreams! I would highly recommend the biscuits, fried chicken, mashed sweet potatoes, and Brussel sprouts! It was all so good and the vibe was very cool. The food was so good, we didn’t even order dessert…I know, shocking.

Some of the best grits I’ve ever had

Saturday was our museum day. We started with a big breakfast at Bus Boys and Poets. I love this place because it is a restaurant and bookstore combined. They also have some of the best grits I have ever had. Of course the first museum we went to was the National Gallery (one of my favorites) and then we went to the Spy Museum. I hadn’t been to the Spy Museum since I was a kid, but it was so fun! We ended the day at a Mexican restaurant called Mission that has a wonderful happy hour and is conveniently right across the street from my favorite bookstore, Kramerbooks and Afterwords so of course we stoped in!

Morning options at Firehook

Sunday started off slow with a yummy breakfast at Firehook. I highly recommend the seven layer bars and the chai latte! We then wandered around 14th St. This area is not too far from my apartment, but I had yet to explore it. It is a wonderful area to wander around and has some great shops and food options that I can’t wait to explore further! We ended the day at a fun sports bar called Nellie’s. Different than your typical sports bar, but so fun!

A Weekend in DC

I had such a wonderful time this weekend hanging out with Kate and getting to explore a little bit more in my new city! Until next time, XO
