What I read in October

I had quite the month of reading in October! I read some incredible books and also discovered some trash romance novels that I flew through. The romance novels are probably not recommending, but they were light-hearted and a fun break from what I usually read. They were almost a throw-back as they reminded me of reading fanfiction in high school!

I also had some great episodes of the podcast including our first guest episode. What have y’all been reading? I am looking for book recommendations even more now than usual to help find more books to discuss on the podcast.

Fantasy

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas – This turned into episode 6 of the podcast and I am already looking forward to discussing the next books in the series in season 2!

A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas

A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas

Mystery

The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton – For episode 7, I discussed this book with our first guest, Katie! I honestly think this was our best episode yet.

Novels

The Island of Sea Women by Lisa SeeEpisode 5 of the podcast! This book is hard to get through, but is one of those books that I think is really important to us to read and continue to discuss. I highly recommend this.

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen – a classic and a favorite.

To Sir Phillip, With Love by Julia Quinn – I was not sold in the beginning, but ended up loving this.

Romance

Elle NicollMeeting Mr. Anderson, Discovering Mr. X – these were definitely more sexy then the Carrie Elks books, but were a fun diversion.

Carrie ElksMemories of Mistletoe, Strictly Business, Take Me Home, Still the One, A Better Man, Somebody Like You, and When We Touch – I started these after I saw an Instagram ad. There were all free on Kindle Unlimited so it was very easy to borrow them. They are all relatively short too. I liked the series ones where the story builds on the characters from each book. They started getting repetitive after awhile, but they were very light and fun.
