Monday Catch-Up March 8

Hello all! Another Monday, another catch-up and this one is loaded with lots of goodies so let’s get to it! One thing before I forget, I made a bookshop.com page that is going to have listed all of the books I mention here, books I’m reading, and books I want to read. This is a great way for me to organize my books and an easy way to share them with you. If you don’t already use bookshop, I highly recommend it as the proceeds go towards supporting small, local book stores which is so important during the pandemic.

Watching – Oprah’s Interview with Harry and Meghan

I wasn’t able to watch this live last night, but I followed along on Twitter. I am part way through the interview and it is crazy. As I’m watching, I’ve had three main thoughts: how horrified I am that Harry and Meghan have had to go through this, how terrible it is that we have turned their pain into entertainment, and how incredible Oprah is at interviewing. Have you seen it? What did you think?

Listening – 13 Minutes to the Moon

I just discovered this podcast from the BBC about the landing on the moon and how it was accomplished. Somehow the BBC got interviews with the astronauts, people who were working at NASA, and even recordings from the actual space ship. This is fascinating and a must listening for any science or space buffs out there!

Reading – Caste by Isabel Wilkerson

This month for my bookclub, we are reading Caste by Isabel Wilkerson. I am not very far yet, but it is absolutely fascinating. So far, it is really bringing to light a lot of things that I’ve never deeply thought about, but that are so present. in our everyday lives.

Empties

This is a new thing for me so please comment with your thoughts and bear with me! One of my favorite types of posts to read is empties where people show products they have actually used and discuss them. Maybe it is just me, but I find these so much more helpful then just general discussion of produce posts because the reviews can be so much more detailed. I am going to try and do these a a few times a month and we will see how it goes! Brief note: I have extremely dry and sensitive skin and I am not an expert. What works for me, might not work for you. This is just what has worked for me. If you want to drastically change your skin care and you are nervous, talk to a dermatologist or can esthetician.

Monday Catch-Up March 8
  1. Versed Day Dissolve Cleansing Balm: I switched to this over a year ago to replace makeup which always kind of irritated my skin and left me feeling super dry. I am obsessed with this stuff. Like I said, it last almost a full year because it doesn’t take very much but does an amazing job of getting off your makeup – even water proof stuff. It is super hydrating so you don’t feel dried out when you are done and it doesn’t irritate my very sensitive skin. I’ve already stocked up on this and am never going back to makeup wipes!

2. Prose Pre-Shampoo Mask: I recently decided to try out Prose which is a personalized hair care company. My scalp has felt super dry lately and my hair has just been kind of blah. I have been using this pre-shampoo mask plus the shampoo and condition and I love them. They are a little pricy, but last a long time and I really feel like my hair is happier and healthier. I signed up for the regular refills because you get a slight discount and can delay them as long as you want, which is perfect for me!

3. Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask: Even if I didn’t wear a lot of lipstick, I would still use this because I get super chapped lips. This stuff is absolutely incredible. You put on a little before bed and it keeps your lips hydrated all night. I cannot recommend this enough and I am definitely investing in the larger size next time!

4. Sunday Riley Luna Retinol Sleeping Night Oil: I got this in a subscription box and decided to give it a try. I didn’t hate it, but it wasn’t my favorite. If my skin was sensitive at all, it reacted really negatively to this and I just didn’t reel like this did anything to help. This might work for you if you have oily or combination skin, but it wasn’t for me.

5. Fierce Flicks Liquid Eyeliner: I love liquid eyeliner and I am always trying different brands because I am not committed to any single liquid eyeliner brand. I liked this one and don’t have anything negative to say, but I also don’t have lots of praise. It did the job, but I am probably not going to buy it again.

Red Carpet

Ok, a little red carpet for those who stuck with me all this way and I’ll catch-up with you next time! These are all from yesterday’s Critic Choice Awards. None of the photos are mine, they are all from here. This is not a best dressed list, but is instead the looks I loved the best or things that I can see myself wearing if I ever was on a red carpet!
