Happy Wednesday! It has been a rainy rainy week here in North Carolina. I love rain, but it is so hard to dress for it in the summer heat and humidity! Here are some of my secrets to getting through a rainy summer day.

If you get rain anything like we do here in North Carolina, rain boots are a must. But I never want to wear a full on rain boot when it is 90 degrees and humid outside. These half height Hunter boots are great for this time of year. They aren’t as warm as a normal rain boot, but still keep you warm as you slosh through the puddles.

Another good option? A light weight trench coat. I picked this one up at a thrift shop a couple of years ago and I love it. It is great for summer because it isn’t too heavy, but it is also very easy to layer under so you can transition it into spring and fall no problem. A lot of trenches are also made with a removable liner. If you want to invest, this is another good option because it can serve as your winter rain coat as well.

I don’t know about you, but when I walk into an air-conditioned building in the summer, I am immediately cold. This is even more true if I walk in from the rain and am a little damp. A longer skirt is a great way to combat this because it will give you that breathability we are all searching for when you are outside, while giving you a little more covering when you go inside.

Again, with your top, for me at least, layering is key. So I either bring a cardigan in my purse that I know will be dry or a cute, light-weight sweater like this one. That way, when you go inside, you aren’t freezing your butt off.

The final thing I always want to add to a rainy day outfit is a pop of color. Whether it is a bold lip or a fun purse, a little color will brighten your outfit and your day. Until next time…
