Hello all! You might have noticed that I’ve been wearing a lot of white lately and I have definitely been wearing it more lately, but that is because it is so easy to wear with winter colors! The white, I think, really brightens up those jewel tones, which is always nice when it is dark outside.
Every year, I always talk about how no white after Labor Day is a dumb rule that we should actively ignore. And I normally do ignore it, especially while it’s still hot and then I occasionally mix some cream into my winter wardrobe. But I normally don’t make a statement quite this bold. When I put on this sweater the other day, the thought of putting on black pants or dark jeans made me shutter. It feels like that is all I wear these days and I really wanted to mix it up. Then, I saw my white pants sticking out of my drawer and it was one of those why not moments. Worst that can happen is I don’t like so I take them off. But instead, I loved them. The white against white was so bold and gave my outfit the perfect statement I had been looking for. It was freezing too, so I warmed up with one of my favorite winter drinks…hot chocolate. That is the start to a perfect morning- a yummy drink and an outfit coming together!
Hello all! Happy Thursday! It has been a busy week already, but I’ve been very productive and have lots of fun things to share with y’all this weekend! While I’ve been busy, I’ve also been trying to deal with our crazy weather. It has been hot here, but not the super sticky hot that is normally typical for North Carolina in August.
This has been nice because I’ve been able to experiment a little with different outfits and layers. Plus, I’ve been able to wear my white jeans! I love the idea of white jeans, but they are definitely hard to wear when it is so hot outside. This weird in-between weather is perfect though because the white jeans are still summer, but you don’t freeze in the air conditioning.
I love wearing darker colors with white because it makes the white and the other pieces really pop. Navy is a perfect option because it isn’t as harsh as black but the white still brightens it up a lot. I love how these polka dots play against the navy and really stand out with this outfit.
Of course, I couldn’t be content with just a cute t-shirt so pink accessories were the perfect way to finish off the outfit. Lot’s of exciting things planned for the next couple of days plus a new Lefty Baking Life announcement so make sure to stay tuned! Until next time, XO
Hello all! Happy weekend! As usual, my schedule is jam-packed, but I was able to make some time to go to the farmer’s market this morning. I have to say, this might be one of my new favorite activities. Today I was busy absorbing so I didn’t take any photos other than my snapchat and Instagram stories, but I think this is going to be come a regular thing for me. I’ll make sure to take pictures next weekend!
Anyways, I think we can all agree that style-wise, I’m not exactly quiet. I tend to wear a lot of big pieces and lots of bright colors. But that is one of the fun things about getting ready! I love experimenting with different pieces and seeing how out there I can be without going over the top.
Speaking of tops, I adore this top. The feathers against the brocade are so unexpected, but the dark navy tones it down a little bit. I had really only worn it with dark jeans before, but I love how it looks against these white jeans. You can really see the feathers now and I love the dark against the light.
With a top like this where the texture is the statement, it is easy to add in more statement pieces with neutral colored jewelry and a pop of color. Because the brocade is hard to see until you are close up, this top definitely needs a necklace or earrings to brighten up the top half of your outfit. I like the neutral colored necklace and then the loud pop of this bag. This Cambridge Satchel is one of my favorite pieces because it is so easy to add to any outfit and it always packs a punch. Until next time, XO
Hello all! Off-the-shoulder has become the trend of the season and I am loving it! I was a little hesitant at first because I’m not normally one to bare a lot of skin. As we all know, my go to is a turtle-neck so anything off-the-shoulder is a little out there for me. However, I have found myself searching out off-the-shoulder pieces and generally loving this style.
The key for me has been finding pieces that still fit within my style wheel house. This has meant girly details and still a classic look. Ruffles have been great for this as they are easy to find with an off-the-shoulder look. They add the girly-ness I am always looking for and make it easy to wear this top without too much jewelry.
If you aren’t ready to totally commit to off-the-shoulder, a one-shoulder top can be a good transition. I like this particular one because it is great for a summer day with white jeans, but would also be easy to dress up with jeans and heels for a night out.
With an off-the-shoulder look, I think a necklace can be a lot. However, statement earrings can be a great alternative if you are looking to add a little pop to your outfit. Some of my favorite statement earrings are here
if you need some ideas.
For this look, I wanted to keep everything pretty simple because I wore it to brunch. This top is so easy to dress up and for once I didn’t want to go overboard. White jeans are great with a top like this because they tone it down a notch, plus the white really makes the black top pop.
I also like the idea of wearing your hair up with this kind of top because it really shows off the ruffle and the off-the-shoulder aspect. If your hair is down, you almost lose that, which would be a shame! Until next time, XO
