Stripes and Summer Turtlenecks

2017, summer, work wear, OOTD, stripes, turtleneck, J.Crew, Anthropologie, Kate Spade,
Hello all! I hope your Thursday has gone well. This has been the weirdest week for me at work and I am so ready for the weekend. But before we get to relaxing this weekend, let’s talk about summer work wear first.
2017, summer, work wear, OOTD, stripes, turtleneck, J.Crew, Anthropologie, Kate Spade,
As you probably already know, I am always a skirt or dress girl when I have the option. Sure, I love a good pair of jeans, but I gravitate towards dresses and skirts- especially when shopping. This skirt, is the newest addition to my wardrobe. You almost can’t tell in the photos, but it is a very skinny pin stripe, which I love. It gives it that professional, corporate air without being too over the top.
2017, summer, work wear, OOTD, stripes, turtleneck, J.Crew, Anthropologie, Kate Spade,
What initially drew me to this skirt was the cinched waist and bow. I always feel more comfortable with a defined waist tailored into my clothing. This can be difficult to find sometimes, especially with summer silhouettes. But, I knew right away that no matter how it fit, the bow would give me the definition that I was looking for.
2017, summer, work wear, OOTD, stripes, turtleneck, J.Crew, Anthropologie, Kate Spade,
The best part about this skirt for me is definitely the pockets. Any skirt or dress with pockets is a winner in my book because then I don’t have to worry about carrying around my phone. It can just stay in my pocket and I don’t have to worry about it. Until tomorrow! And if you’ve been watching my Instagram story, the recipe will be up on Sunday! XO

Pink Professional

2017, summer, work wear, pink, statement piece, turtleneck,
Hello all! Happy Friday! Yesterday’s post was slightly delayed because of a very eventful evening. Details on that coming soon! But, I still want to talk about making pink professional! As you all know, pink is one of my favorite colors, especially when it comes to my wardrobe. But just because you love something, doesn’t mean you should wear it to work. Take this sequined skirt. I am obsessed with it, but there is a time and place for it. And work does not fall into either of those categories.
2017, summer, work wear, pink, statement piece, turtleneck,
But pink can be made to be professional, you just have to be deliberate about it. Adding pink through your accessories is always a good first step to test the waters and see if it feels professional enough for you. Starting with a pink statement necklace or pink purse with a classically professional outfit like a suit jacket, button-up, or pencil skirt is an easy transition. You can jazz up your outfit without causing too many waves.
2017, summer, work wear, pink, statement piece, turtleneck,
If you are like me, and want to step it up a notch, stick with classic work-wear shapes like pencil skirts and blouses. Then add in pink with fun patterns. For me, it is much easier to make pale pink work place appropriate than hot pink. For hot pink to work, it has to be the right outfit and it is overall more complicated.
2017, summer, work wear, pink, statement piece, turtleneck,
Pale pink is a much easier option and is perfect for summer. I am obsessed with this pink gingham skirt from J.Crew. It is so fun and summery, but the cut makes it perfect for a work-place setting. For me, this outfit would be great for an interview or a business meeting because it is conservative and professional enough, but still shows off my personality. Until next time, XO

Turtlenecks for Summer

2017, OOTD, summer, turtleneck, cheetah, pink, leather,
If you have been following along in 2017, this is old news, but for all of my new readers, I am obsessed with turtlenecks. I was so sad with all of spring, summer, and fall in front of me without being able to wear this fabulous item. But, I found a solution! At least for the transitional months.
2017, OOTD, summer, turtleneck, cheetah, pink, leather,
I just found these sleeveless turtlenecks at Anthropologie and I couldn’t be more excited. They are very lightweight and have a lot of stretch so they are perfect for layering on these hard-to-prep-for spring days.
2017, OOTD, summer, turtleneck, cheetah, pink, leather,
I ended up getting one in black and one in gray. I know I will wear the black one to death, but gray is a new color for me. It will be fun to experiment with these in the coming weeks!
2017, OOTD, summer, turtleneck, cheetah, pink, leather,
Do y’all have nay ideas for how to wear them? I am thinking big statement jewelry and lots of pink! Until next time, XO

The Best of Winter

2017, winter, spring, OOTD, J.Crew, turtleneck, sparkly,
With winter finishing up and spring very much upon us, this will probably be my last opportunity to wear any winter clothes. So, it seemed only fitting to wear two of my favorite pieces from this winter.
2017, winter, spring, OOTD, J.Crew, turtleneck, sparkly,
First of all, turtlenecks, If I could pick one word to describe my winter wardrobe it would be turtlenecks. This burgundy with navy stripes one was perfect for me whether I was layering it under sweaters or just wearing wearing it by itself with a statement necklace. You can’t go wrong with a turtleneck!
2017, winter, spring, OOTD, J.Crew, turtleneck, sparkly,
This sweater is also one of my favorites. I love the stripes of different colors and patterns. Then, the sparkles on top add just the right amount of pop. People always comment that the sparkles look like snowflakes and I absolutely love that idea.
2017, winter, spring, OOTD, J.Crew, turtleneck, sparkly,
Lots of new things coming up this week so stay tuned! Until then, XO

National Stripe Day

2017, spring, J.Crew, stripes, turtleneck, ruffles, pearls, patterns, OOTD,
Happy Friday everyone! What a crazy week! I am definitely ready for a quiet, relaxing weekend. Before we get to the relaxing though, let’s talk about stripes and J.Crew.
2017, spring, J.Crew, stripes, turtleneck, ruffles, pearls, patterns, OOTD,
Today is National Stripe Day, per J.Crew, and I couldn’t be more excited. First of all, I love stripes. Just in general, but also mixing different striped pieces and mixing stripes with different patterns. Stripes are just one of those classic details that give a little elegance and Parisian chic to any outfit- what’s not to love about that?!
2017, spring, J.Crew, stripes, turtleneck, ruffles, pearls, patterns, OOTD,
I am also excited about today because I love J.Crew. Before you ask, no J.Crew is not paying me to say this, they aren’t paying me at all. I genuinely love the J.Crew brand and their clothes.
2017, spring, J.Crew, stripes, turtleneck, ruffles, pearls, patterns, OOTD,
I started a few years ago just buying pieces from J.Crew here and there. Now, it seems like my whole closet is from there! Their clothes are great quality and pretty reasonable priced. Plus they have incredible sales…if you are a student and not using the student discount, you are missing out! It also doesn’t hurt that their clothes are so cute and right up my aesthetic alley.
2017, spring, J.Crew, stripes, turtleneck, ruffles, pearls, patterns, OOTD,
The other thing I love about J.Crew is the people who work there. They are always nice and helpful, but I also feel like I have built relationships with these women over our mutual love of the J.Crew brand. Favorite store to shop at by far! Until next time, XO

Sparkles and Sweets

2017, winter, OOTD, sugarfina, food, sparkly, pink, , burgundy, , turtleneck,
For my birthday a couple of weeks ago, my wonderful boyfriend gave me these awesome cocktail-infused gummies from Sugarfina. I have mentioned them a couple of times before (here and here) as I have been admiring them from afar for a few years. Now That I have tried them, I can tell you that they taste even better than they look!
2017, winter, OOTD, sugarfina, food, sparkly, pink, , burgundy, , turtleneck,
The champagne and rose flavors are distinct in the gummy bears, but delicious. And the peach bellini hearts might be my new favorite candy! To say I am obsessed would be an understatement. Definitely check out their website as they have something for everyone. The ones I really want to try next are these dark chocolate champagne bears
2017, winter, OOTD, sugarfina, food, sparkly, pink, , burgundy, , turtleneck,
As with most things in my life, eating these gummies made me feel a certain way and influenced my outfit. In this case, an outfit with girl pinks and burgundies and lots of sparkles. This sweater has become one of my favorite pieces in my wardrobe. Like many pieces I own, I bought it as a statement piece, but it has fit so seamlessly into my closet. It goes with so many other pieces I already owned and it is super easy to layer.
2017, winter, OOTD, sugarfina, food, sparkly, pink, , burgundy, , turtleneck,
So, moral of today’s post? Go buy Sugarfina candy and statement pieces that are the same color palette as the majority of your wardrobe! Until next time, XO

Turtleneck Thursday: Work-Wear Turtleneck

2017, turtleneck thursday, turtleneck, stripes, OOTD, winter,
Hello all! Another Turtleneck Thursday is finally here and this one is a good one. I was talking to a friend the other day about my favorite topic, turtlenecks, and she was telling me how she loved to wear them, but had trouble dressing them up for work. Of course, I immediately interjected and told her you can easily dress up a turtleneck! It is just all in the accessories. So for the next couple of Thursdays I am going to give y’all some ways to make your turtlenecks work appropriate.
2017, turtleneck thursday, turtleneck, stripes, OOTD, winter,
This week, pair your turtleneck with a blazer. If you blazer is darker, choose a bright turtleneck and a sparkly necklace so you don’t lose your entire figure or look dull. If you are wearing jeans, choose a dark wash with a pair of neutral heels. With dress pants, you could wear some cute flats or heels even if you need to be more dressed up.
2017, turtleneck thursday, turtleneck, stripes, OOTD, winter,
Either way, if you are having trouble with your turtleneck, think of it like a button-down shirt or long-sleeve top. It doesn’t have to be complicated, so don’t make it complicated. Just go out there and rock that turtleneck. Until next time, XO

Turtleneck Thursday

Hello all! I’m sorry I’ve been a little MIA this week. Work has been busy and my days seem to end before they even begin. Hopefully, I will be back on track next week! But, in the meantime, I could never forget about Turtleneck Thursday. This week we are taking a small break from an outfit post in favor of an article about some other people who also love turtlenecks this year…men. Sure, turtlenecks are every where for women, especially with snow and layering, but, Devon showed me this crazy interesting article about how men are styling turtlenecks this season too! Check it out and know that when you wear a turtleneck, you are not alone. They are the piece to style this winter! Until next time, XO

Turtleneck Thursday: Camels and Stripes

2017, OOTD, winter, turtleneck, turtleneck thursday, stripes, J.Crew, over the knee boots,
My camel sweater has always been one of my favorite pieces because I love camels and it is a very comfy sweater. However, like most pieces that you are comfortable with, it can be difficult to try new things and create new outfit combinations.

2017, OOTD, winter, turtleneck, turtleneck thursday, stripes, J.Crew, over the knee boots,
But, since I love the sweater so much, I’ve been working hard to find new ways to wear it. Of course, my first thought was to try a turtleneck and this striped one seemed like the perfect addition.
2017, OOTD, winter, turtleneck, turtleneck thursday, stripes, J.Crew, over the knee boots,
The key for me when wearing graphic t-shirts or sweaters like this is a to basically ignore the graphic completely. Take the colors into consideration, but otherwise, don’t be afraid to mix colors and patterns.
2017, OOTD, winter, turtleneck, turtleneck thursday, stripes, J.Crew, over the knee boots,
Many times, some tripes or polka dots are exactly what a graphic piece needs to make it really pop. Turtlenecks come in once again to save my outfit. Until next time, XO.
2017, OOTD, winter, turtleneck, turtleneck thursday, stripes, J.Crew, over the knee boots,
P.S. This is what happens when you have photo shoots with your boyfriend…lots and lots of laughing because I am aggressively awkward. But it was also a blast and the photos turned out great! Thanks Dev XO

Top 10: My Winter Essentials

Winter can sometimes be difficult to get through, but it doesn’t have to be! Here are my 10 essentials for surviving winter no matter what comes my way.

1. With my long commute this winter, having a way to keep my tea warm for the whole drive and at work has been vital. I absolutely love my yeti. I thought they were a little overrated at first, but it keeps my tea boiling from when I make it through my entire hour commute. When I get to work, my tea is normally still too hot to drink! I couldn’t ask for a better container.

2. Although I love black tea, I am a little limited because I can’t drink caffeine. However, my best friend and my boyfriend have made sure I am well-stocked with decaf black tea. Right now, I am rotating between these four and they are all delicious! Sangria ZingerEarl GreyChaiGolden Dragon

3. So I love tea and loose leaf tea and it can be hard to find cute infusers that can be easily transported. This was a gift and I am obsessed with it. I love sloths and this little guy is so cute hanging off my mug every morning!

4. The perfect companion for my tea drinking is a good book. I just started this one and it is so interesting! I love the Mitfords and I am so excited for this book.

5. Hopefully, everyone knows by now that I love turtlenecks and that are definitely one of my essentials this winter. If you are confused, you should check out our Turtleneck Thursday series! Here is last week’s installment if you missed it.

6. I have always been against puffer coats because they make me think of the Michelin Man, but I finally caved and got one this year. The final thing that pushed me over the edge is that they are supposed to be so much warmer than other coats. Let me tell you, it definitely is! This coat is noticeably warmer than my peacoat the the belt prevents the Michelin Man quality.

7. Other than being cold, my other winter struggle is my hands. They have terrible circulation and get dry really easily. These tech-friendly gloves have been a lifesaver when I’m walking around because they keep my hands warm without limiting my phone access.

8. My other necessity is my hand lotion. This stuff is a little expensive, but lasts forever and makes my hands feel so nice. I’ve been using this for years and cannot say enough good things about it.

9. For me, staying warm is all about layering. Sure you can buy a warm sweater, but you will be even warmer with a vest or something else on top of your sweater! This vest is one of the staples in my wardrobe. It looks cute by itself on top of a cute shirt or layered under a jacket.

10. The final key for staying warm? A blanket scarf. It is the perfect final addition to any outfit and I actually use mine as a blanket at work and in restaurants. If you are cold natured, a blanket scarf is key. You can thank me later. Until next time! XO
