I feel like this look is about as classic to my typical style as you can get. Top knot, lipstick, pink, lots of jewelry, overall super girly and preppy. As much as I like to experiment and try new things, sometimes it is nice to stick with what you know too. And a button-down under a sweater with a skirt and a big necklace is second nature for me.
If you have been following along for a while, you will have noticed that I’ve started wearing a lot more lipstick lately and I am loving statement lips. So I thought it was about time to talk about some of my favorite colors and brands and some fun ways to incorporate bold lipstick into your wardrobe.
Ok, so we all know that I love to make a statement, but I acknowledge that I am a lot more adventurous than most. But I think we should all try and be adventurous and I think we so easily get pigeon-holed with these fashion rules and I just think that is silly.
Salut and happy Thursday! For those of you who don’t know, salut is a way to casually greet people in French. I have already worn this tee once recently
, but I love it so much that I wanted to wear it a couple more times before it gets too cold. Dressing up an already casual piece has always been an outfit staple for me and I am so excited that I finally have another tee to experiment with. As much as I love my NY Times tee
, I have been wearing it a lot lately it seems.
Anyways, in my opinion, this is the best time to experiment with different pieces and layering. The weather isn’t so cold that you need a coat or tights, but you can still layer comfortably. With an outfit like this, a cardigan and over-the-knee boots were the only additions I needed to be comfortable. A big necklace and pink lipstick were the perfect finishing touches to make this look work-appropriate.
Do you have a favorite tee you like to experiment with? Until next time, XO.
Hello all! I must say, one of my favorite things about living downtown is that I am within walking distance of a fabulous bakery. If you have been following my instagram
) you will have seen some of the fabulous pastries I’ve gotten so far! My favorite has been the seasonal danish which had fig and goat cheese in it. Sadly the seasons are changing and they don’t have figs anymore, but they do have a blueberry, cardamon, and goat cheese danish. I just tried it yesterday and it was fabulous!
When I decided to live alone, I promised myself that I would try and go out and explore and interact with other people downtown as often as possible. This bakery, called The Table
, was the perfect start for me. First of all, I love baked goods and pastries, so having access to that has been wonderful. Second of all, I can walk over and eat breakfast while blogging! It is just the perfect way for me to spend my mornings.
Sadly, they are closed on my only day off so I can’t spend the entire day there. But I sure am enjoying it as a morning treat so far! Do y’all have any tricks for discovering a new city? Do you have a favorite bakery or coffee shop that you always frequent? Until next time, XO
Hello all! What a week it has been! I cannot wait for the weekend to start tomorrow. As you can probably tell, my style tends toward the girly/ feminine side, especially when it comes to accessories and details. I love anything sparkly and pink and ruffles are my new favorite detail for summer.
As much as I love these aspects now, girly has not always been my go-to. It is actually a pretty recent style change and one that has been so fun to explore and experiment with.
However, every now and then, I like to toughen up some of my girly details. This burgundy leather skirt is the perfect way to do that. The cut is pretty classic with the little flare and the pleats. But the color is unexpected and makes it feel more modern. Plus, the leather is the perfect combination with the otherwise girly ruffles of this top.
As usual, once I started, I couldn’t stop. So big clip-ons and a sparkly purse were necessary additions. Plus, I’ve been very into experimenting with lipsticks lately and this color matched my skirt so perfectly, I couldn’t resist.
A 100% girly outfit has it’s place and time, but mixing it up is part of the fun of fashion. Don’t be afraid to mix pieces that don’t always go together. That is typically how I find my favorite combinations! Until next time, XO
I don’t know about y’all and your weather, but it seems like it’s been raining here forever! It has also been cooler the last few days, which has been a nice chance to wear the last of my spring clothes before summer hits.
Whenever it is rainy, I try and brighten up my outfit with sparkles or color. That way, even though it is dreary outside, I don’t feel blah or bored with my outfit. This pink lipstick is the perfect way to add a pop to any outfit.
This lipstick is Nars and it is so easy to apply. It comes in about 100 different colors and it stays on all day. I couldn’t gush about it more and would highly recommend it.
It seemed fitting with this outfit to not only add color, but also some sparkles. I am so glad that brooches are finally coming back in. I have loved them for years, but they are very difficult to shop for when they aren’t trendy!
I like wearing multiple brooches at the same time or mixing them with necklaces. This gives them a more modern feel and they are always a fun statement piece. Here’s to hoping it’s sunny tomorrow! Until next time, XO
