Can you believe it’s already February?! I sure can’t Valentine’s Day is already next week which means my birthday is just around the corner! So, I am not a huge Valentine’s Day fan, I actually think it is kind of silly. However, it does give me the perfect excuse to bake and wear some red and pink. So let’s talk about the clothes first.
If you have been following along for a while, you will have noticed that I’ve started wearing a lot more lipstick lately and I am loving statement lips. So I thought it was about time to talk about some of my favorite colors and brands and some fun ways to incorporate bold lipstick into your wardrobe.
Ok, so we all know that I love to make a statement, but I acknowledge that I am a lot more adventurous than most. But I think we should all try and be adventurous and I think we so easily get pigeon-holed with these fashion rules and I just think that is silly.
For me, there is nothing more classic than stripes and red lipstick. It just has that feel of the French Riviera or Rome in the 60s. As much as I love it, I really only wear this combination in the summer. When it’s cold, I’m way too tempted to add multiple layers and patterns to the point that you lose that classic vibe
Because this is such a classic look, I like to maintain as much of that feeling as possible while still having fun with accessories. To do that, I like to have big, but classic accessories. That add just enough of a punch but you don’t loose the original combination of stripes and lipstick.
These earrings, although I bought them at J.Crew
last year, have a classic vibe and the neutral colors don’t make them overtly contemporary. Same thing goes for this bag, which happens to actually be vintage.
Red lipstick dresses up an outfit so much that I always like to have something a little undone about the rest of my look. A messy bun was the perfect option because it toned things down and shows off my earrings. What’s not to love? Until next time, XO
It is finally starting to cool off here and feel like winter and Christmas! Living in North Carolina, we almost never have a white Christmas so I don’t associate Christmas and snow. Every year, it really starts to feel like Christmas time for me after I see The Christmas Carol with my family. This Dickens story is one of my favorite Christmas stories, and if you have never seen the play, I would highly recommend it. Every year when we leave the theatre, I feel that Christmas spirit start to settle over me.
This year has felt even less like Christmas than normal because we haven’t decorated. Instead, my family and I are going to Costa Rica for ten days on December 26! I am so excited to enjoy some warm weather and simply relax for a week! XO
