Hello all! My new schedule has been so weird and is completely throwing me off. Before, I worked full-time Monday through Friday and then part time Saturday and Sunday. Now, I work full-time Tuesday through Saturday, with a little extra Saturday night and then part time Sunday with Monday completely off. Monday felt like Saturday all day and yesterday felt like Monday. Today, I have no idea what day it is ha!
It is so weird to think that a few years ago, I was barely wearing any color at all. I never would have dared to wear an all neon outfit especially with an off-the-shoulder bodysuit! But, like with everything, your style changes and evolves. Now, it is so easy for me to wear color. Whether it is just a pop of color in an otherwise neutral outfit or lots of neon pink. It is almost second nature to add color to an outfit.
When it comes to neon, don’t let it intimidate you. Like anything else, start with a simpler base…for this outfit that was the bodysuit, jeans, and sandals. Then, I added a bright necklace. When choosing a necklace, I wanted one that would fall above my top because of the ruffle. That narrowed down my selection a little. Then I wanted one with a little color because my base was rather boring and very blue. This necklace has some blue to tie it in with the outfit but then the bright pink so it was perfect.
The final piece to this outfit was the belt. I was happy with the necklace, but needed something to break-up all of the blue in the rest of the outfit. This belt was the perfect addition to tie-in to the necklace and add that final pop. Keep an eye out tonight for my review of Reynolda House’s newest art exhibition on Georgia O’Keeffe! Until then, XO

Hello all! Happy Thursday! It has been a busy week already, but I’ve been very productive and have lots of fun things to share with y’all this weekend! While I’ve been busy, I’ve also been trying to deal with our crazy weather. It has been hot here, but not the super sticky hot that is normally typical for North Carolina in August.
This has been nice because I’ve been able to experiment a little with different outfits and layers. Plus, I’ve been able to wear my white jeans! I love the idea of white jeans, but they are definitely hard to wear when it is so hot outside. This weird in-between weather is perfect though because the white jeans are still summer, but you don’t freeze in the air conditioning.
I love wearing darker colors with white because it makes the white and the other pieces really pop. Navy is a perfect option because it isn’t as harsh as black but the white still brightens it up a lot. I love how these polka dots play against the navy and really stand out with this outfit.
Of course, I couldn’t be content with just a cute t-shirt so pink accessories were the perfect way to finish off the outfit. Lot’s of exciting things planned for the next couple of days plus a new Lefty Baking Life announcement so make sure to stay tuned! Until next time, XO

Hello all! I hope you are all doing well today! Gray might be my color of the moment because I went to basically never wearing gray to wearing it multiple times a week. Same goes for stripes! But we will see what happens as my outfits evolve this week.
Although fairly new to my wardrobe, gray is a great option for the end of summer and fall. It is a great neutral that isn’t as bold as black, but still allows you to do lots of fun things with your accessories.
I love wearing giant party accessories, like these earrings, with a more professional looking outfit. It adds a little oomph to your outfit and also gives you an excuse to wear those fun party accessories that normally sit in the back of your closet!
The finishing touch for this outfit was the pops of color. I needed something to break up all of the gray. This pink bow bracelet perfectly matched my purse and they were the perfect finishing combination. Maybe tomorrow I’ll be able to branch out from gray a little bit. Until next time, XO

Good morning all! I know I said I was going to be blogging more regularly this week, but, to be honest, I’ve just been putting off this post. Sometimes you just don’t have something to say and that has been me lately. I didn’t want to post just so I could say I posted, but I actually wanted to be able to engage with y’all in some way.
Anyways, I’ve definitely been lacking motivation lately. A lot of that has stemmed from the fact that I have been struggling with my health, which makes me not like my pictures. No pictures, no post. But, I am tired of letting my own insecurities about my pictures and how I look get to me so we are back to posting today!
Although I adore this outfit, it is not necessarily bold or new or extremely interesting. But, it is important to have outfits in your arsenal that are cute and easy to wear. You don’t want every outfit to be a loud statement making piece. Sometimes, it is nice to have a cute but simple outfit. I love monotone and I love the different shades of gray in this outfit and then the bright shock of pink. Perfect for a summer afternoon. Until next time, XO

Hello all! Happy Wednesday! It is kind of weird for me now as I have Monday off so it feels like Tuesday instead of Wednesday. Whatever day it feels like for you, I hope you are having a fabulous week so far. I am currently living my dream life as I blog this from a bakery that I walked to from my apartment! I could not be more excited about living downtown or about this bakery…I already have a bakery addiction.
As you know, I love this dress and wear it semi-regularly. But it is hard to mix it up first of all because of the very recognizable color. But also, the bow in the back makes it hard to belt or layer with other pieces. So, I typically have to get creative. For me, that means changing up my jewelry, shoes, and accessories so each time I have a different pairing. At least this way I’m not wearing the exact same outfit every few weeks.
One of the hardest hurdles for me to get over when it comes to creating outfits is wearing the same color in a different shade. For some reason, my brain vehemently opposes this idea, but it always looks so cute when I finally try it. One such color combination that works really well is pale pink and hot pink. The monotone gives the outfit another interesting factor and the pale pink can help to tone down the hot pink. Definitely a combination to try! Until next time, XO

Hello all! Happy August! I can’t believe August is already here, this summer has flown by! So, as you know, today is the start of my new chapter! I am so excited about the direction my life is moving and I can’t wait to tell y’all all about it!
Yesterday was my last day at my old job and it was definitely bittersweet. I could not be more excited about my new job, but leaving behind all of the people who have become my family over the last year was definitely hard. As sad as I was to leave, I do have lots of things to be excited about and it will just make visiting in the future even more fun. To all of my Leland people who read this, I love y’all and miss you already! Can’t wait to see you soon!
My new job at the art gallery officially starts today at 10. There will of course be tons of notifications about my openings and all of that and I can’t wait to be back working with art on a regular basis. I have high hopes for this position and it is already going well! I will definitely keep y’all updated on all of the new developments and keep an eye on social media for information about our artists and shows.
As if that wasn’t enough, I also officially started moving on Saturday! I am so excited to finally have my own place and to be able to start decorating and all of the fun adventures that come with that. I am not sleeping at the new apartment yet, but I will be this weekend! Not to worry, there will be regular updates and tons of pictures. Until next time, XO

Hello all! I hope your week is going well so far! This week has definitely been hard for me what with it being my last week at my job and I’ve been struggling a little with my health. As some of you know, I’ve been having stomach and digestion issue for almost two years now since my gallbladder stopped working. It is mostly under control, but then there are days like today, where it really bothers me and that definitely affects my mood and my day to day life.
Typically, I am a pretty happy person. The person you see on here and who you know from reading my posts is actually what I am like most of the time. But, that doesn’t mean that I don’t have down days just like every one else. Whenever I am having a down day, I try and wear something that makes me feel happy and beautiful to off-set it. Today’s outfit was all about my favorite things.
First there is this fabulous purse. Pink is just one of the things that always makes me happy, especially hot pink. In addition to pink, of course, I had to have some sparkles. I just got these shoes at J.Crew and I am already obsessed. They are comfy and oh so sparkly and I love it. Finally, this dress is new and when I put it on this morning, I felt awesome. That didn’t exactly translate to my photo shoot this evening, but sometimes you just don’t feel good about your pictures and that’s ok.
What are your tricks for perking yourself up on a down day? If you need a little pick-me-up, check out my Instagram story. I live streamed my baking evening for the first time ever and had a blast! I’d love your feedback. Until next time…XO

Hello all! Happy weekend! As usual, my schedule is jam-packed, but I was able to make some time to go to the farmer’s market this morning. I have to say, this might be one of my new favorite activities. Today I was busy absorbing so I didn’t take any photos other than my snapchat and Instagram stories, but I think this is going to be come a regular thing for me. I’ll make sure to take pictures next weekend!
Anyways, I think we can all agree that style-wise, I’m not exactly quiet. I tend to wear a lot of big pieces and lots of bright colors. But that is one of the fun things about getting ready! I love experimenting with different pieces and seeing how out there I can be without going over the top.
Speaking of tops, I adore this top. The feathers against the brocade are so unexpected, but the dark navy tones it down a little bit. I had really only worn it with dark jeans before, but I love how it looks against these white jeans. You can really see the feathers now and I love the dark against the light.
With a top like this where the texture is the statement, it is easy to add in more statement pieces with neutral colored jewelry and a pop of color. Because the brocade is hard to see until you are close up, this top definitely needs a necklace or earrings to brighten up the top half of your outfit. I like the neutral colored necklace and then the loud pop of this bag. This Cambridge Satchel is one of my favorite pieces because it is so easy to add to any outfit and it always packs a punch. Until next time, XO

Hello all! I spent the entire evening baking, and man do I have an awesome recipe to share with y’all on Sunday! One of the things I’m most looking forward to when I move and start my new job is having some more time to experiment with my baking. I have been pinning up a storm with new ideas and I could always use suggestions, so email me if you have any!
August is going to be such an exciting time for me because I am moving into my first apartment on my own and starting a completely new job. It is a totally blank slate for me and I couldn’t be more thrilled about it. As I am starting off on this new journey, I’ve been thinking about other journeys that I’ve taken…going to college, studying abroad, the journey that has been the last year. All of them started in August, so it seems only fitting that I start again this August.
Anything new in August always makes me think of going back to school and while I won’t be starting school this August, it didn’t seem right that I should miss out on back to school fashion! Every year for my first day of the year, I would always meticulously plan my outfit so it was as fabulous as possible. This outfit is made up of some of my favorite pieces right now and I just felt great when I put it on… exactly how you should feel on the first day of school.
This adorable backpack from Kate Spade was the perfect finishing touch. It let me channel my new journey vibes and I got so many compliments on it when I went to a local bakery before work! Stay tuned for the awesome recipe this weekend and some fun outfit posts tomorrow and Saturday! Until then, XO.

Hello all! To all of my American readers, happy July 4th! I hope you had a fun-filled day. Mine was the perfect day off i.e. quiet, but productive. It was so nice to have a whole day all to myself. I so rarely get those these days.
Well, as exciting as my quiet day off was (ha), I have some very big news to share with you tonight. As you know from this post, I had applied and was accepted to a master’s program in London. I was all set to leave, had rented an apartment, bought my plane ticket, and handed in my notice at work when life happened…my master’s program was cancelled.
Since I found out that I wasn’t moving to London, it has been a roller coaster of emotions and trying to figure out what I am going to do now that I’m not moving to another country. My program was cancelled in early May and I have finally gotten all of my ducks in a row. Starting August 1st, I am going to be the curator at a gallery here in Greensboro. I am so excited about this opportunity and I will share lots more details as August 1st approaches and I start. I just couldn’t wait any longer to tell y’all!
As crazy and bumpy as this road has been, everything happens for a reason and I think this has all worked out incredibly well. Lots more details on the new job and what this means for Lefty Living Life to come in the next few weeks so stayed tuned. Until next time, XO
