While I love that we have all of the season here in North Carolina, I have a love/hate relationship with our weather. The past few days it has been absolutely beautiful here. I mean 70 degrees, warm wind, and sunny. While I have loved the warmth, it is just going to be that much harder when it inevitably gets cold again. However, I am trying to enjoy this glimpse of spring while I can!
Hello all! Happy snow day! Here in North Carolina we saw our first wintry weather this weekend with a whole 9 inches of snow (that is a lot for us!). It has been fun bundling up and sitting in front of the fire drinking hot chocolate all weekend. And it came just in time for one of my favorite trends, winter pastels. Pastels are normally reserved for spring and summer, but there is something that is so refreshing and fun about wearing pale pink, green, and white in the middle of winter. I love how the colors jump out against the black coat and tights and how they add a little pizazz to my winter wardrobe. Also, these heels, while a little impractical in the snow, are perfect for dressing up a detailed sweatshirt like this one. Perfect for parties or something a little more fun at work.
I hope y’all have had a wonderful weekend! Until next time. XO
One of my favorite things about pastels is that they are so easy to match with each other. Mixing pale pink, lavender, and mint all together in one outfit is no problem because they all look so good together! It is the perfect way to spice up an outfit with subtle details and pops of color. If you want to use pastels as your accent pieces, I would recommend having little bits of them against a dark background like navy or black. Of course, like anything else, too many colors or patterns can make your outfit too busy. But if you add little moments of color like the mint stripe on this cardigan or the pink shoes, you can have a lot of color without your outfit being too overwhelming.
You might have noticed that you haven’t seen my shoes before. That is because they are brand new! I just got them from Cole Haan and I am obviously obsessed. If the pale pink wasn’t enough to make you love them, you will adore them once you feel how comfortable they are! They are definitely going to be a stable in my wardrobe for the rest of this summer and into fall. XO
Pastels are one of those things that, kind of like florals, are typically relegated to one season (Spring in this case) for no good reason. Pastels are one of my favorite things to wear and I think they can be perfect for any season depending on what you are doing. For summer, pastels are the perfect break from the neon, white, and busy patterns that normally accompany summer clothes. This shirt and skirt have served me so well over the past couple of seasons and are two pieces that I always come back to no matter what! XO
