We are having the weirdest fall weather here in North Carolina, which is pretty typical of North Carolina weather in general. The problem right now though is what to wear when you leave the house at 8 a.m. and don’t come home until 4 p.m. At 8 in the morning, it has been in the 40s and 50s so I am piling on sweaters and scarves and relishing in the opportunity to start wearing boots. But by 3 o’clock it is 75, sunny, and perfect and I am shedding layers by the second as I am sweating across campus. For me, the perfect outfit involves a lot of layers and not necessarily warm layers. With this outfit, my shirt is comfortable, cute, and as an added perk doesn’t show sweat stains. The scarf is light, so comfortable in the afternoon heat, but a nice layer around my neck in the morning. For the morning, I threw on a light jacket that was easy to take off and carry around. One day, I will fully master the art of fall dressing and I am getting close, but it might take me a few more crazy days. I sure am enjoying the fall leaves this year though! How do you deal with fall weather? XO
I have always been a fan of polka dots and when I saw this jumpsuit at Anthropologie, I fell in love. The pockets and the bow belt were just an added bonus that sealed the deal. The thing I love about Anthropologie is that they have a very distinct look, but they also have these incredible statement pieces that are outside of this look. My mom and I were talking yesterday about how if you wear all Anthropologie, all the time, you develop this distinct, boho look. But even when I wear all Anthro, like this outfit, I think it’s important to reflect your own style. So don’t let anyone convince you to buy something and always search for those incredible statement pieces that help define your style. XO
We finally have a day off and are taking full advantage of the long weekend by taking a baby road trip to Atlanta. Of course, we had to stop yesterday in Greenville to see my lovely sister, but today is all Atlanta. The best part of this trip is that it is starting to feel like fall and I can finally pull out all of my fun layers! This hat is definitely my favorite piece so far, but I have this great sweater vest I’m also excited to wear. Fall is by far my favorite season because of the clothes. 60 degrees is my perfect wheel house for outfits. Plus Thanksgiving is around the corner and I can’t wait! XO
I have always adored hats- baseball, fedora, bowler- you name it, but I have never been able to find the perfect hat for me. However, J.Crew solved all of my problems with this incredible, felt floppy hat. It’s perfect for transitioning into fall and winter and I can’t wait to wear it…I’ve already worn it three times! So if you are looking for a hat this fall ( and they are definitely in) maybe this one will work for you too! Oh and did I mention it’s on sale? XO
One of my biggest problems in the summer and fall is that I am always cold. Outside, I am fine in shorts and a t-shirt, but as soon as I go inside, I’m freezing. I have figured out the key to dealing with this is not only layering, but also adapting your outfit from day to night. Most people when they think day to night think about adding heels and lipstick. For me, this means adding jeans instead of shorts and potentially a cardigan. XO
Summer is starting to come to a close and don’t get me wrong, I love fall. But I’m trying to squeeze in a few more days of summer clothes before the vests come out. I bought this skirt at the beginning of the summer on a whim and it has been my go to piece! First of all it’s pink, which makes it fabulous. Plus it’s very comfortable and bonus, has pockets! The perfect skirt if you ask me. So enjoy those summer clothes for a few more days before my favorite season begins! XO
It is always harder to wear certain things if they have a weird connotation. Take leather shorts for example. My immediate reaction is leather booty shorts that are probably extremely inappropriate. But these are leather shorts. And they aren’t inappropriate! So how do you wear them? I think the key is to keep in mind that stereotype so you don’t fall into it, but then just do what you want. My philosophy when it comes to fashion is to wear what you like and what makes you happy. No matter what is in style or what everyone else is wearing. So that is what I did and here is the Taylor take on Leather Shorts! XO
So I will also be doing a new thing every post. At the bottom, before the links, there is going to be a fun fact of some kind so y’all can get to know me. Feel free to tell me your fun facts in the comments!
Fun Fact of the Day: I love wrinkly dogs especially ones for smashed faces. For examples, check out my Pinterest page!
Downtown Greenville, South Carolina is one of my favorite places and conveniently, my sister goes to school in Greenville so I get to visit quite often. Greenville itself is a beautiful town, but over the past 10 years or so, they have redone the downtown area so it is pedestrian friendly, there are a bunch of delicious, local restaurants, nice parks, and some cute hopes to look through. All in all an incredible place to spend time! Oh, also, that pop of color on my bag…well I wrapped a scarf around the strap. I absolutely love doing this because it gives a fun, vintage feel to any bag or outfit as well as adding a little extra color. XO
What does every outfit need? A little bit of pink! I wear a lot of black and navy, but I adore pink in almost every form. And I have found that the best way to wear pink is as an accessory to brighten up my otherwise neutral outfits. I love this shade of pale pink because it is extremely versatile and very feminine, but not overly girly. For this outfit at least, it just adds that extra pop and turns an otherwise boring outfit into a statement. Do you have any tricks for wearing pink or brightening up neutrals? XO
