Preppy in Pink

Preppy in Pink - Lefty Living Life

I feel like this look is about as classic to my typical style as you can get. Top knot, lipstick, pink, lots of jewelry, overall super girly and preppy. As much as I like to experiment and try new things, sometimes it is nice to stick with what you know too. And a button-down under a sweater with a skirt and a big necklace is second nature for me.

Why wear one necklace when you could wear two

2017, summer, statement piece, layered necklaces, button-down, OOTD, pink, pearls,
Hello all! I hope your week has gotten off to a great start! As you have probably seen from my snap story, I have been having a blast pet sitting for one of my favorite puppies Maddie. Add me on snapchat at Taylor Curry or tcurry16 for tons of puppy pictures!

Anyways, my week has gotten off to a fun start and I am so excited about this outfit. Classy, girly, and sparkly are my main three goals when putting together any outfit and this outfit definitely fits that criteria. To me, there is nothing classier than a crispy button-down. Now granted, my button-down could stand to be ironed and made a little crisper, but you get the idea! There is just something about a button-down that immediately feels classy and sophisticated to me.

Sparkles are typically easy for me. I love jewelry and have quite a large collection of sparkly jewelry and other accessories. However, today I want to try something a little different. I’ve layered with this necklace before, but only with smaller silver necklaces, never with something as big as this flower necklace. What I love about this look is that the emphasis is taken away from the pearls and there is a whole new layer to the flower necklace. I will definitely be experimenting with layering statement necklaces soon!

The final aspect of this outfit was the girly-ness. Girly is easy for me because I love pink. With this outfit, I didn’t want the pink to be the focus, but rather just an additional statement. Matching the pink of the necklace with my shoes and purse was the perfect way to tie everything together and not only complete the look, but also add that girly pop I was looking for. Until next time, XO

Toning Down Cheetah Print

2017, summer, OOTD, cheetah, gold, layered necklaces,

Hello all! Happy Friday! I am so excited for this weekend as I have lots of fun plans and lots of exciting blog posts to share with y’all! As you know, I love patterns and cheetah print is one of my favorite patterns. When this cardigan first shopped up at J.Crew, I couldn’t have been more excited about it and knew I needed it in my closet.

I had been anxious to incorporated it into my wardrobe and start wearing it right away. But, as with any other statement piece, it is very easy to overdo it and it has taken some time to find the right pieces to pair it with.

I have found that with a loud piece like a cheetah print cardigan, the best thing is to pair is with simpler basics to spice them up. This tank top for example is very nice, but so boring! Wearing it with jeans just leads to a lot of blue and nothing really exciting. But, it is the perfect foil to my cheetah print cardigan.

With this, I have also found that I prefer more delicate jewelry since the print is so loud. I love layering small necklaces so they are more interesting, but still maintain that delicate quality. The finishing touch for this look was these fabulous earrings I just picked up at J.Crew. Although big, they are so light, I almost forgot I was wearing them! Until next time, XO.

It’s all in the details

2017, OOTD, lace, layered necklaces, winter,

What makes an outfit great, in my opinion, is the details. Anyone can wear a cute dress or a sweater and a pair of boots, but it is the small details and add-ons that take an outfit to the next level.

2017, OOTD, lace, layered necklaces, winter,
This is kind of embarrassing, but I’ve had this dress since my freshman year in high school. Every time I try and get rid of it, I find another outfit it would go perfectly with. The funny thing about it is that every time I wear it, someone comments about how cute it is and asks me if it’s new. I wore it not long ago, but changing up the accessories gives it a completely new look.

I love using this ribbon as a belt because it literally ties together any outfit and the bow is the perfect amount of girly detail. For me, the belt and the dress were cute, but were seriously lacking in sparkle. So, loving my sparkles and having no self-control, I piled on two necklaces for that extra punch.

When layering necklaces, I have two secrets. One, if you want to vary in length, stick to a consistent color palette like this. Two, if you want to vary in color, stick to a consistent length. They don’t need to fall exactly the same, but the close grouping will make the varied color palette look intentional and cool. Until next time, XO

Ruffle Details and Brunch

Brunch is by far my favorite meal of the day. Not only am I obsessed with breakfast food but there is just something about brunch that is so classy and fun. And yes, I am that person who eats bagels for lunch and calls it brunch!
The best part about brunch is that it is the perfect time to experiment with outfits and a great excuse to dress up a little. I just got this shirt and have already worn it a bunch. The great part about this design is that it is easy to layer under a sweater like I did here, but also looks great on its own. Definitely one of my favorite new pieces. XO
