I feel like this look is about as classic to my typical style as you can get. Top knot, lipstick, pink, lots of jewelry, overall super girly and preppy. As much as I like to experiment and try new things, sometimes it is nice to stick with what you know too. And a button-down under a sweater with a skirt and a big necklace is second nature for me.
Hello all! While Halloween is not one of my favorite holidays, I have finally found a costume that I love to wear and is perfect for Halloween…Audrey Hepburn from Breakfast at Tiffany’s. This outfit is so easy to put together with things you already have in your closet and it fits well into my style. I think what I don’t like about wearing a costume is because it makes me feel uncomfortable. This outfit though, is almost something that I would wear on a regular day so I still feel comfortable and fabulous even though I’m wearing a costume. I hope you had a fabulous Halloween and Happy November!
As you have seen over the years, one of my favorite things to do is dress up a t-shirt
and make an otherwise classic outfit a little more feminine. With this outfit, I got to do both! I finally have expanded my tee collection from my New York Times tee to also include this new Salut tee. It is so soft and comfortable plus I love the immediate French twist it puts on any outfit.
This skirt is by far my favorite pencil skirt because it has the feminine pink gingham pattern. I love the idea of adding such a detail to a classic piece. It makes the piece more interesting plus it has been so easy to incorporate a pink skirt into my wardrobe!
Another thing you might have noticed over the years is that the one accessory I always have, other than a watch, is my glasses. Yes, they are real because I am blind as a bat, but they have also become one of my defining stylistic characteristics. I love experimenting with new frames and seeing what different glasses add to an outfit. These beauties are the newest addition to my collection. They are from a company called Chrome Hearts
and I am so excited about them. The lens are going to be lightened up a little before they are finished, but I couldn’t resist wearing them today for my pictures. I love how big and dramatic they are and they add the perfect amount of sass to an otherwise girly outfit. Until next time, XO
Hello all! Happy Friday! It is crazy, but it already feels like fall here. A lot of that is probably because of all of the weather fronts we are getting, but it has been fun to start experimenting with fall clothes. As excited as I am about fall, I am sure there are still going to be quite a few opportunities for me to wear summer clothes and I still have a couple summer outfits to share with you!
This one might be one of my favorite outfits I’ve worn lately. The sassy sequin skirt with the classic white button down is just the perfect representation of my style. One of my friends commented on my instagram that it was half mermaid, half sailor, which I absolutely love. My idea of the perfect outfit is one that is sassy and girly, but also classic and this fits the bill to a tee! Until next time, XO
For me, there is nothing more classic than stripes and red lipstick. It just has that feel of the French Riviera or Rome in the 60s. As much as I love it, I really only wear this combination in the summer. When it’s cold, I’m way too tempted to add multiple layers and patterns to the point that you lose that classic vibe
Because this is such a classic look, I like to maintain as much of that feeling as possible while still having fun with accessories. To do that, I like to have big, but classic accessories. That add just enough of a punch but you don’t loose the original combination of stripes and lipstick.
These earrings, although I bought them at J.Crew
last year, have a classic vibe and the neutral colors don’t make them overtly contemporary. Same thing goes for this bag, which happens to actually be vintage.
Red lipstick dresses up an outfit so much that I always like to have something a little undone about the rest of my look. A messy bun was the perfect option because it toned things down and shows off my earrings. What’s not to love? Until next time, XO
Hello all! Happy Monday! If you’ve been following along here at Lefty Living Life for awhile, you will have noticed that I learn towards classic feminine pieces for my every day look. Classic shapes and styles have always been my go-to no matter what the occasion.
However, now that I am wearing skirts and dresses every day for work, it has been fun to further expand my wardrobe!
For me, the most classic pieces are a trench coat, a white-button down, and a black dress and I love how they all came together with this outfit. This trench coat is one of my favorite pieces in my wardrobe because it is the epitome of style and class especially since it is Ralph Lauren. What I love most about it though is that it was my first consignment purchase!
This dress is a great black-dress staple because it is versatile. The buttons make it so you don’t have to wear a big necklace and it is a thicker material so I’ve worn it by itself with flats in the summer or easily layered, like I did here.
Finally, the white-button down. If you don’t already have a white-button down, I would seriously consider investing in one. They add a tailored, finished look with a pair of jeans and flats and are perfect to layer under a sweater or dress when it is cooler. As someone who is always cold, but who doesn’t like shapeless sweaters, a button-down is a key layering piece for me.
As with any outfit, the key to making it awesome is how you accessorize. Cheetah print heels are always a great piece to add to a simpler dress. If your cheetah print has brown and black in it, add a brown bag to your outfit to tie in that brown from your shoes. Until next time, XO
