Ok, so we all know that I love to make a statement, but I acknowledge that I am a lot more adventurous than most. But I think we should all try and be adventurous and I think we so easily get pigeon-holed with these fashion rules and I just think that is silly.
Cheetah print is by far my favorite print. I love it no matter where or not it is on shoes, a scarf, or a fabulous jacket like this! I originally wasn’t going to get this coat because I already have a furry cheetah vest, seen here
, but I just couldn’t help myself! It was just too fabulous to pass up. My original hesitation was how does one even wear a cheetah print coat without looking silly? So for my first outfit, I decided to keep it pretty basic with all chambray and pearls. The coat added the perfect pop to an otherwise simple outfit. I am not going to lie, I’ve already worn this coat 4 times and I’ve only had it for a week. I can’t wait to see what else I can pair it with this winter!
P.S. if you aren’t already signed up for my newsletter, you definitely should! My favorite thing about fall is layering, which is probably pretty obvious from this outfit. I am naturally very cold-natured so I always need a jacket or something like that in addition to my outfit. So layering is right up my alley. Whenever I wear an outfit like this, I always get questions about how I put it together and let me tell you, the answer is gradually.
You need to start with your base first, which in an outfit like this is the flannel, jeans, and shoes. It is finally starting to get cool here so I knew I wanted at least one cozy layer and I wasn’t really feeling a necklace so my next layer was the vest. If I had added jewelry, that makes it easier to determine the other layers because I would have wanted to keep them relatively simple. Anyways, to choose the cheetah vest, a lot of it came down to the fact that I hadn’t worn it yet and I was dying to wear it.
Once my vest was on, I needed one more layer, but it need to be really simple to not be over the top with the flannel and the vest. Thus another fabulous reason to have a leather jacket for fall! Yay for fall weather!
Burgundy is one of my all time favorite colors to wear. It is always hard to lighten it up in the summer, but fall is just perfect for burgundy no matter what you wear it with. The main reason I started wearing burgundy is that it looks good with my dark hair and pale skin. But it is really great for anyone trying to make their outfit feel more fall appropriate. This top for example, is not very heavy but the color makes it feel appropriate for fall. I really needed a dark color as well to go under this light, cheetah print coat. This coat is definitely going to be my new go-to this fall and winter. First of all it’s cheetah print so I am already obsessed. But, what really got me is the detailing in the back. From the front, this is just a classic coat, but the ruched detail in the back gives the cut of a coat a more flattering, feminine look. Plus, did I mention it has pockets?! Already in love! Have a fabulous Thursday and don’t forget to come by Swoozie’s in Friendly Center in Greensboro tonight to see me and get some great deals at their anniversary sale! Until next time, XO
Hello all! I hope you are enjoying your week so far. It has recently been pointed out to me that I wear a lot of black and pink and not much else. While that is very true, in winter and fall, I do add in my favorite color…burgundy. This mix of red, brown, and purple is just perfect for my coloring and looks fabulous with all of the pink and black in my wardrobe!
We have started to have occasionally cooler days here (definitely not today as the high is 85) but I am already comping at the bit to pull out all of my fall and winter clothes. This whole outfit is full of great transitional pieces because they are easy to layer and they satisfy my fall cravings without being too warm. This top, although a turtleneck, is actually sleeveless and very lightweight. Perfect to just wear right now and great for layering under sweaters and cardigans come fall and winter. My skirt is actually leather which in conjunction with the color makes it feel very fall like. Finally, this trench coat is one of my favorite things. It is a classic piece and looks great with almost everything. The best thing is that it isn’t too heavy so perfect for when you need a light extra layer. Enjoy your Wednesday! Until next time, XO
One of my favorite things about being in the working world is being forced to experiment with clothes. Wearing the same dress or skirt over and over again can get so boring and repetitive. So, I always try and mix up my outfits in one way or another.
Skirts are a little easier because you can mix up your top, shoes, and accessories. Changing a statement necklace or other aspect of your outfit can not only change the vibe of an outfit, but can always make it almost unrecognizable. As long as you aren’t wearing the same skirt in the same week, this is an easy way to mix up your work outfits.
Dresses can be a little more difficult, especially if they are patterned and recognizable with this one. The key is changing up your accessories. The last time I wore this
, it was quite a bit cooler outside so I wore over-the-knee boots and lightened up the look with peach accessories.
Now that it is warmer, I really wanted to lighten up the entire look and emphasize some of the lighter colors instead of the richer tones. Mint and pastels in general are a great way to lighten up an outfit and are one of my favorite color trends to wear in the summer. I also love the cheetah print with this because it is more interesting than just a plain black flat. Until next time, XO
If you have been following along in 2017, this is old news, but for all of my new readers, I am obsessed with turtlenecks. I was so sad with all of spring, summer, and fall in front of me without being able to wear this fabulous item. But, I found a solution! At least for the transitional months.
I just found these sleeveless turtlenecks at Anthropologie
and I couldn’t be more excited. They are very lightweight and have a lot of stretch so they are perfect for layering on these hard-to-prep-for spring days.
I ended up getting one in black and one in gray. I know I will wear the black one to death, but gray is a new color for me. It will be fun to experiment with these in the coming weeks!
Do y’all have nay ideas for how to wear them? I am thinking big statement jewelry and lots of pink! Until next time, XO
